A journey starts with a single step, a single action or even a single experience. The motivations for embarking on one are countless: adventure, discovery, knowledge, self-reflection…the list, undoubtedly, could have no end. Each one of us has his or her own reasons to explore. And so it begins with a first step: The Adventure Post – where the outdoors and travel converge. A place where we can share our experience and expertise, as well as a forum for others to share their own journeys. Once in motion, who knows where fate will lead you…but ya gotta get moving to see where you can go.
Founded in 2011, learn more about the folks making it happen:
Wendy Geister has had a penchant for travel and adventure as long as she can remember. With nearly 20 years of experience as a professional journalist for the outdoor sports industry’s leading trade magazines and websites, she is now parlaying those skills and drive into The Adventure Post. Favorite diversions include kayaking, skiing, hiking, roadtripping and whatever else comes her way. Wendy has lived in the urban jungle of Southern California and the remote wilds of Northwest Montana. Reach her at [email protected]
Marcus Woolf was born and raised in Alabama, but a semester-long outdoor program at the Colorado Mountain College set his course for life. “After that I knew I wanted to do two things with my career—write and be outdoors,” he says. For the past 20 years, Marcus has served as an editor for outdoor industry magazines and web sites, and worked as a freelance writer for national outdoor magazines like Backpacker and Outside. In 2015, Wilderness Press will publish the latest edition of his hiking guidebook for Georgia, Afoot & Afield: Atlanta. Now, he’s taking his passion for writing, travel and exploring nature and pouring it into trip reports, news stories and gear reviews for The Adventure Post. While he still loves international travel, he is now based in Alabama and remains a Southern boy at heart. In the fall, when he’s not backpacking, kayaking or traveling abroad, he pursues his other passion, Alabama Football. “Roll Tide, y’all.” Reach him at [email protected]
