Find a National Trails Day Event Near You

We’re lucky that right up the road we can hop onto a great system of trails established by our local land trust. Often, these mountain paths serve as our testing lab for all sorts of outdoor gear. Plus, the trails let us get escape the city quickly and enjoy some peace and quiet.

If you have a favorite trail, then show your appreciation for it by doing a volunteer project, or just by going for a hike on National Trails Day, which is June 6. Established in 1993 by the American Hiking Society, National Trails Day will include stewardship projects, gear demonstrations and guided hiking, biking and horseback excursions on trails throughout the country.

In Southern California, hikers will join the Southern California Mountains Foundation and REI to improve a new 23-mile multi-use trail. In Anchorage, Detroit and Houston, folks will begin the Hike it Baby 30 challenge, where they’ll try to do 30 miles of walking or hiking in 30 days.
