Outdoor Gear Headed to Nepal for Relief Effort

Nepal earthquake

Kudos to leaders in the adventure travel and outdoor gear industries for rallying to help the relief efforts in Nepal.

In May, the Outdoor Industry Association sent gear companies requests for certain items, including 1,000 tents; 4,000 to 5,000 pieces of simple rain gear; 1,000 to 2,000 water-treatment systems; and 2,000 to 3,000 knit caps, according to a report by the Adventure Travel Trade Association.

Then, adventure travel tour operator Dharma Adventures helped the ATTA and OIA connect with Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization, based in Boone, N.C. Now, each week Samaritan’s Purse is sending planes loaded with the gear to Nepal.
